Asburys Park FingerSmear was created with the cooperation and support of The Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce during the 2003 Bruce Springsteen concert. Springsteen fans are a fun group to paint with, and they all seem to have a special affection for Asbury. Bruce came to the studio a few days after the concert and added some paint and his autograph to the piece. It was raffled off to benefit the New Jersey Community Food Bank. The waterfront developers offered renderings to reference – so this image was not designed on Asbury’s past – but on plans for Asbury’s future. My studio was there for a few years, and it was wonderful to be part of the revitilization efforts early on in the transformation.
